Suggest Treatment For Tiredness And Pain In The Lower Abdominal Area

This morning, he complains of a dull kind of "awareness" in the same area combined with a sharp pain when he gets up out of his chair/desk (using the muscles in that area), and extra sharp pain when he coughs or sneezes.
"When it hurts it hurts really bad but otherwise I'm sitting back in my chair and it just kind of feels numb/dull".
Should I be thinking 'appendicitis', hernia, or just a strained abdominal muscle?
Taking pain killers should provide relief. Hot compress can help.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Going by the details it seems to be either a case of costochondritis (an inflammatory change involving the cartilage of lower ribs on the right side) or due to a muscle getting pulled. In either case NSAIDs like ibuprofen should provide relief. Such medicines should be taken in full stomach.
The pain of appendicitis is located in the lower right abdomen between the navel and the bony prominence in front of the hip (at the two sides). A clinical examination is needed for confirmation.
Let me know if you have any further queries and I would be happy to assist.
