Suggest Treatment For Tonsil Stones And Foul Taste And Breath In Mouth

ENT surgeon, waterpik, qtip
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question. When we are young and have tonsil infections, some of us develop these crypts in our tonsils. Food packs into the crypts and causes tonsil stones and bad breath. In order to not have the stones form any more you need to see an ENT surgeon. They can do surgical or laser procedures to remove the crypts and resurface the tonsils so that stones no longer form. Until you can do that here are some suggestions for removing the stones. You can use a finger as you have been doing or a qtip. If you use a qtip make sure it is moistened so that it does not irritate the tonsils too much. Gargling with warm salt water is also helpful in some people. Another solution is to use an oral irrigator such as a waterpik. You set the irrigator on a low setting and aim it at the stones until they dislodge. For any way that you use to remove the stones, make sure that you drink lots of water after you do the procedure to thin secretions. Gargling with warm salt water after you remove stones is also soothing to the tonsils. Good luck to you and I hope this helps.
