Question: Hi
I have an odd problem in My premolar(Tooth#30).It started with sensitivty to cold and hot.Later on I felt pain emitting out.I visited Dentist locally, they took bite-wing X-Ray and some others but did not show much.I have a composite tooth feeling in that premolar.Later on I felt pain in biting as well as the gum below the tooth wherein it connects to the tooth is in Pain.My dentist gave me painkillers and Amoxicillin 500 mg capsules. After few doses the pain has gone but on right side of my mouth I feel it a bit heavy and as if something is holding the free check movement. There is a slight pain too.The gums and cheek have swollen little bit.My dentist also did a Endo Ice test which was -ve and Percussion test which was positive. My case has been referred to endodontist,I am very worried.

Brief Answer:
Its probably periodontal problem in first molar

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

I saw your x- ray & premolar is not clearly visible, you might have got filling in first molar. I can observe some periapical widening in that tooth. It might result in positive horizontal percussion.
You go for deep scaling followed by betadine gargles & complete course of antibiotic.
If problem still persists consult endodontist.
Maintain good oral hygiene & need not worry.

Hope I answered your query

Wishing you good health

Hi
Yes I have deep cleaning planned tommorrow.
One more interesting thing happened is after 2 days of antibiotic ,I see dark lines under my front tooth gums. They were not there a day before. Not sure whats going on.

Brief Answer:
You might be allergic to amoxicillin

Detailed Answer:
In my opinion you should go for deep scaling tomorrow & if problem persists then consult endodontist.
Its nothing to worry about dark lines.
It could be due to some allergy to amoxicillin.
Consult your dentist & inform him regarding this allergic reaction.
He will switch on to some other medicine.
Needn't worry & take rest.

Ok.My dentist is telling me to do the deep scaling and also consult endodontist for #30.

Now the gum (where it connects to the cheek)below the affected tooth is sore. And as I mentioned some swelleing is there which can be felt from outside the cheek.I can press finger and feel warm and semi-painful swelling.
Does it mean dental abcess?

Brief Answer:
It can be periodontal abscess.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it can be periodontal abscess which will resolve on deep scaling.
Swelling can also be due to same reason.
Consult your dentist if it still persists.
Secondly there is no teeth number called #30.You might be confused.

By number 30 I was referring to the premolar/molar on the bottom right quadrant. Its the same tooth on the right quadrant which has a composite filling. There one tooth above it which also has filling.
