Suggest Treatment For Trochanteric Fracture

Question: I fell and ended up having an incomplete break of the greater trochanter. The Dr chose to let it heal on its own. It healed incorrectly and my one foot is now going in the opposite direction. Now it is my decision to have surgery and put a pin in it. Why would the Dr. choose to let it heal and then do a surgery?

Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

At our clinic,we operate and fix such trochanteric fractures immediately after the trauma.
We do not allow it to heal on its own due to chances of incorrect healing.

In your case,if it has healed incorrectly,then you should get it corrected by surgery and then fix it with a screw and a plate.

I think,it was wrong decision to let it heal on its own initially.

If you had been operated at that time,you would have been fully recovered by now.

Anyways,its never too late.After surgery,you should be fine and walking.

I would be in a better position to guide you further if you could post the X rays (both old and recent one) here.
