Suggest Treatment For Ulcer On The Right Tonsil
Question: Two weeks ago I have a large ulcer on my right tonsil, it has since healed and can no longer be seen. I religiously rinsed with salt/baking soda mix and coated the area with manuka honey. I went to urgent care the day after I first noticed the ulcer and inflammation of my right tonsil and the doctor didn't say much other than it could possibly be HSV and my strep test was negative. He prescribed 3-day 500mg once a day of zithromax. The ulcer healed within 12 days and It's now been a day or two since the ulcer healed but the area is still inflamed and now I am seeing these little pimple like bumps along the palatoglossal arch/soft palate along with some inflamation. My throat isn't necessarily sore, the right tonsil where the ulcer was is still tender and enlarged, but I don't have any issues eating, speaking, swallowing.. etc. It's more of an annoying tender feeling on the right side and sometimes feels like I have a popcorn shell or hair stuck on the back of my tongue just on the right side. I cannot feel any swollen lymph nodes either and have no other symptoms like cough or fever or aches. I'd like to also mention that over the last month I have been battling acid reflux and it finally seems a under control with diet changes and Prilosec OTC (I bought a 14 day pack and today is only the second day). One more thing... My 15 month old just had an auto bone marrow transplant and is still recovering with low white cell counts, so I constantly am wearing a medical face mask to help protect her from any illness. I wonder if constant mask wearing kinda hinders my mouth from healing like it should?
Brief Answer:
Ulcer tonsil

Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic and thanks for putting up the query
Ulcer on a tonsil can be benign or malignant. If the ulcer has leaked and you still have discomfort, please touch the tonsil to see if you can feel something hard as compared to the other tonsil.
Are you having any swellings in the neck too?
Also send me the pictures of your throat so that I can suggest you better.
Wearing a mask won't affect only one site in the mouth, so it is probably not due to that.
Follow up with the required information.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks and regards

How do I attach an image? I don't see an option to do so.
The ulcer healed in about 12 days but the tonsil remains inflamed as well as the soft palate/palatoglossal arch is slightly inflamed and bumpy. Does this sound like an HSV flare up? I have not been in contact with anyone sick, but have been very stressed with my daughter's medical condition. I will send an image as soon as I know how to.I have attached two images under the report section. I do not feel anything hard, the tonsil seems soft. I have a little soreness in the neck but can't feel any swollen lymph nodes. So that could be related or a symptom of my stress and anxiety.

Brief Answer:
Unilateral tonsil enlargement
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the information and pictures.
From the pictures it doesn't seem to be a HSV infection at all. You should get yourself examined by an ENT SPECIALIST to rule out any growth in the tonsil. The growth can be benign like a cyst or tonsillolith or it can be malignant. This should be investigated immediately.
You should take a tablet vitamin c once daily and do hexidine gargles daily.
Avoid any tobacco use or smoking.
It is not just stress as it is obvious from the pictures that you have some pathology which must be examined.
I hope my advise proves useful for you.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks and regards
