Question: My toddler grandson is experiencing sudden small bruising all over his body. He is a active 17 mo. old, but not doing anything other than what he has done in the past. Is it possible he is lacking a vitamin or mineral in his diet. No, he is not being abused in any way. Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer:
It should be evaluated

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
If trauma is rule out for sure then this is unusual finding and it necessitate further evaluation. It may 've signs of vitamin D and K insufficiency, but in modern countries this is rare since these are present in enough amounts in various foods. But it may indicate certain hematologic disorders and coagulation problems so if there is no improvement,he should see pediatric hematologist. Wish you good health. Regards
