Suggest Treatment For Unwanted Facial Hair When Diagnosed With Hypothyroidism

Question: Hi sir, I have hypothyroidism and I used thyronorm 75mcg for 2 years after I had been advised to use 100mcg as I was getting weight.. and in past 3 months I was asked to use 125 mcg .. but I am seeing a lot of unwanted facial hair.. please suggest me whether it is because of over dose? I am really worried because of this..
Brief Answer:
Could be due to PCOD. Not due to overdose.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I would insist you to get your TSH level checked. It will help in proper dose adjustment.
I do not think that the facial hair is due to overdose of Thyronorm. Rather, I need to ask whether your periods are regular. PCOD can cause facial hair but that is often characterized by irregular periods.
Regards

Yes sir. I am facing the problem of irregular periods. It's been 8 years . But the facial hair growth is high in the past 3 months. Last year PCOD is diagnosed in my case and attached is the list of medicine I have been using along with the TSH reports. Please verify and suggest me whether my treatment is going in correct direction. Also kindly let me know what are the things I need to take care from my end. Also. Will the PCOD treated completely.
Brief Answer:
PCOD
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I have checked the attached report. The TSH seems to be controlled on medication and the same dose needs to be continued for the time being. The ultrasonogram shows PCOD to be present and this is in accordance to my suspicion. In such a case you need to be treated with low dose hormonal pills (which are also used as oral contraceptive pills). PCOD is very common these days and regular medication can keep it under control.
Many doctor advise Glycomet SR in PCOD. I do not think it to be helpful. For the rest, you would need to discuss with your gynecologist.
