Question : Hello Doctor - I woke up around 5:00 AM with an upset stomach and bad diareaha. During this first episode of diareaha I broke out in a severe sweat. Since that time, I have had numerous episodes of diareaha since then, and most recently I noticed there was a trace of blood in the toilet, and it seemed a little bit like mucus. - I do not know if I had something bad to eat for dinner last night (I ate late around 10:30 pm) and maybe I have a case of food poisening? I am not sure if I should try and let this run it's course or might I have something more serious. The amount of blood is pretty faint and minimal, and the other issue is I have recently changed jobs in the past year and my new health insurance is a hight deductible, so every time I go to see the doctor it can get very expsnsive very quickly. I am a male, age 54 and I have had IBS issues for years and currently take a prescription, 3 times daily called IC Diphen/Atropine - 2.5 mg tablets.
Any guidance would be gratly appreciated. - Thank you, XXXX
