Suggest Treatment For Urinary Incontinence Along With Swollen, Sore And Inflamed Labia Majora Due To Diapers

Question: I experience poor bladder control and wear bladder protection. If I don't change the pad often enough, my body will get "burned" from sitting on the wet pad and get sore.. While the area is healing, I use a good quality diaper ointment to cover the damaged skin and prevent any further injury. This time my outer labia are inflamed and swollen and very sore. The ointment is not reducing the irritation. It doesn't burn while I am urinating, but my urine is definitely the cause behind the soreness. What should I do?
Brief Answer:
Suggest to put Urethral Catheter for few days till it heals up completely
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You have incontinence of urine and using diapers, however, I have developed sores over genitals and around.
The cause of the sore is irritation and excoriation of the dermis by urea present in urine.
I would suggest you to put a urethral catheter for 1-2 weeks to to drain the bladder continuously. This will help you prevent leakage of urine and there by excoriation of the surrounding skin.
In the meantime, start taking antibiotic like Cefexine twice daily and topical antibiotic like Neosporin to prevent further spread of infection.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thank you.
