Suggest Treatment For Urinary Tract Infection In Pregnancy

Question: I'm 11 weeks pregnant. I have mild symptoms of a uti and a dipstick shows a colour on the leukocytes tab - but outside the usual time frame. There is no reaction at all from the nitrates tab. What should I do?
Brief Answer:
UTI has to be treated
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Urinary tract infection is serious especially during pregnancy. At our set up we dont take any risks we treat even suspected UTI cases.
Here is what I recommend
1. Get a urine routine done, see for pus cells ( leucocytes) in the urine. If there are more than pus cells send for urine culture and sensitivity
2. Depending on the sensitivity appropriate antibiotic should be given for a period of two weeks
3. Please mention the name of the nitrate tablet and strength of it you have been on.
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
I wish you good health
Regards
