Suggest Treatment For Urinary Tract Infection

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: Hello doctor. I had two contraceptive pills within a span of 4 days(1 last thursday and one on sunday) and from 6th day(tuesday) onward I have been urinating very frequently and the urination is followed with a burning sensation when I am almost done urinating. I had fever too for a day(tuesday) after that and now its been 3 days and the burning sensation won't go. What should I do? What medication should I take? I am afraid to go and personally see a doctor for this. I had a paracetamol during my fever and since past one month I was on arithromycin for some skin related problem as far my other drug intakes are concerned.

Brief Answer:
Mostly UTI. Follow the advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

According to information, it is MOSTLY suggestive of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) or Bladder infection. One routine urine analysis including culture test will be worthwhile to confirm the diagnosis.

TREATMENT: I suggest to take one course of ANTIBIOTIC (like Ciprofloxacin) & URINE ALKALISER (to be taken with water). Paracetamol should be continued until fever subsides. Kindly, consult with your treating doctor for complete prescription.

PREVENTION: You must drink plenty of water (2.5 to 3 lit/ day) to flush out the body toxin, take cranberry juice (one glass) regularly, maintain genital hygiene (during sexual activity also) properly, empty bladder in time, avoid unprotected sex and wear clean-cotton underwear only.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Regards,
Dr Soumen
