Suggest Treatment For Urticarial Rashes On Face And Lips

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: My hives started on Tuesday late afternoon and then when I woke up Wednesday morning my entire body was covered in hives and my face and lips were swollen. I went to urgent care and said it was just hives and gave me benadryll. The hives went away throughout the day. Thursday morning I woke up with a slight rash. Thursday night my face started to become burning hot and was incredibly itchy. My face became red in most areas and I had a rash on my neck. When i woke up the rash had covered all of my body. This has happened Friday and Saturday night too and then i wake up the following morning covered in a rash and my lips and face swollen

Brief Answer:
Severe allergic rash

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same.
I have seen the attached pictures .
You surely have a severe generalised allergic reaction in the form of urticarial rash .
You should immediately stop with both tretinoin and the sulpha drug that you are taking .Do not take any other drug too ,in case you are taking .
Taking Benadryl or any other antihistamines on and off will not help in your case . You need to regularly take an antihistamine in the adult dose for five to seven days at least.
In case the swelling over lips or the rash persists, you might need a short course of steroids as well .
Make sure you are not using any irritant creams or lotions or face washes or things like dettol .Avoid outside or canned foods for sometime .

Hope it helps

Do I need to see my dermatologist for a prescription for any of the things you mentioned? And will this eventually go away or is it permanent?

Brief Answer:
Take treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

You can get tablet Claritin as an otc agent .
Take it twice day for three days and see the effect .
If the rash improves ,take the medicine for a total of five days atleast .
However if it tends to persist or increase, see a nearby doctor or dermatologist soon .
