Hello,
Thanks for posting your query in HealthcareMagic,
Before I could guide you any further, I would like to know a few more details related:
- how long has she been having this symptom?
- does she have any associated symptoms like lower abdominal pain, vaginal discharge, any weight loss, irregular periods?
- is she on any other medication?
The most common cause for vaginal itching in her age is due to fungal infection.
Kindly revert back with your answers so that I can advice further management accordingly.

Hi again,
Thanks for writing back,
From the description that you have shared, I would like to enlist the following possibilities:
- Inadequate lubrication during sex
- Fungal infection
- Vaginal tears following intercourse
- Latex allergy following the use of condoms
I would suggest her to do the following:
- engage in some foreplay before the act of intercourse, as enough foreplay will provide lubrication for easy penetration.
- If found to have vaginal discharge, fishy odour or discoloration in discharge, Pelvic inflammatory disease should be suspected. A course of anti-fungals will help to resolve the issue.
- If found to have latex allergy, it is better to go for natural methods or other alternative methods of contraception.
I would suggest it best to consult with a OBGYN for proper examination and follow further management.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to discuss further,
Regards

Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for the follow up,
Sorry for the delay in replying back,
Like I have said in my previous answers, since you are not able to elaborate on your wife's symptoms, it is quite difficult for me to reach a diagnoses. Also for any medicines to act, it would be better to consult with an OBGYN for local examination to see if there is any tears or any infection. Treatment can be given only then.
But, meanwhile I would suggest you to ask her to use VWash, which is a liquid solution, to use while washing the area. This will keep the area hygienic and also create a favorable pH so as to avoid itching.
Also as I said before, if you are in the habit of using condoms, kindly avoid it. Also please ask your wife if she has any symptoms like burning while urinating, any form of vaginal discharge, so that fungal infection can be ruled out.
I hope I have answered to your query,
Regards
