Suggest Treatment For Ventricular Dysphonia
voice therapy from speech therapist.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having ventricular dysphonia.
I am not sure if you have an established diagnosis of ventricula dysphonia. But if the diagnosis is established, then remedies like honey with tea will not help. We need to put in every effort to understand the root . A ct scan of brain, stoboscopy and direct laryngoscopy should be performed. I suggest you to go ahead with these investigations if not done earlier. It is best treated with botulinam therapy or with CO2 laser after establishing the right cause (in prolonged ventricular dysphonia)
In the mean time, I agree, you should try voice therapy with speech therapist (they are trained personnel, will give you you proper results) rather than trying voice therapy by yourself or under untrained personnel.
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions
Vd was the diagnosis. This is a very personal matter to me that has been bothering me for far too long. When I try to talk, sometimes my voice has a false spasm and gets deep. And I know it is because my true folds are giving me trouble, have been, for ever.
As far as the botulinum therapy / CO2 laser can you tell me more about those treatments in general and if these options are recommended or not in my case? How possible would this treatment become available to me?
As far as my history with this, I will tell you that I do not remember when I was starting to have issues, just that it was at a very young age. And that, as of now, I feel like I shouldn't be dealing with this anymore. Thank you.
need to know the primary cause.

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.
Answers for your queries.
1. As per your history, it appears to be a established ventricular dysphonia, where voice therapy rarely helps.
2. Yes. both botulinum and CO2 laser will show equal amount of results depending on the primary cause of ventricular dysphonia (stress, compensatory vocal card), there fore i suggest you to go ahead for those investigations to know the primary cause.
3. Most of the laryngologist (who are trained on voice disorders) will be there in referral centers (medical colleges).
4. All the best. Take care.
I see there is no Laryngologist option to ask on this site. Can you transfer me to someone who can further help me.
your ent surgeon, will guide you.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Yes. Have a visit to your routine ENT surgeon, he will guide you in locating the right laryngologist. I don't think there is an option to transfer this question to another doctor.
All the best. Take care.
