Suggest Treatment For Vertigo
Question: Dear Doctor,
I was diagnosed with vertigo some 2 weeks back during early morning hours & was given a jab & some cinnarizine tabs ,25 mg + prochlorperazine maleate,5mg tab till further appraisal at ENT tomorrow.
Had a similar attack in 2010 ; what can I do to avoid vertigo ? & what are the tests I need ?
I still get the dizziness when lying on bed particularly on the right . Thanks & Regards,

Positional vertigo

Hi,
At this age vertigo can be a disturbing symptoms and it can cause fear as well. Since you have the dizziness when lying on right it is mostly a positional vertigo. Positional vertigos can be prevented by not being in that position however it is very discomfort to avoid that position.
If you can meet the ENT who can teach you and learn you Epley's maneuvre where they can do some tilting of the head it can help you avoid vertigo next time in the same position. So you should ask for Epley's or simply exercises to avoid the vertigo. Till then you can safely take Cinnarazine or Betahistine tablets.
However I advise all the elderly to undergo through neurological evaluation as well when present with vertigo in my clinic as there are other reasons for vertigo apart from positional.

2, Earlier my dry eyes problem only got worse with use of Allergocrom (sodium cromoglycate) & hypromellose 0.3% lubricants(Brand- GenTeal.Feel better if I stay away from monitor screens. Best Regards
