My son has been suffering from high fever since yesterday almost 105°F. He is also suffering from severe body pain and is constantly having the urge to vomit. The doctor said that he might be having dengue but we don't think so. Please suggest something.
Brief Answer:
It seems like viral
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
It seems like viral. Now dengue and chikungunya are also viral. These virals are self-limiting. That means that he will get better in few days with or without treatment. Antibiotics have no effect on viruses.
Nowadays dengue and chikungunya are going around. Many people getting affected by them. It is transmitted by mosquitoes, therefore take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
105 is a high temperature. I suggest that give him syrup crocin as per his weight 4 times a day. His fever should come down. Also do body sponging to bring down fever. Dengue and chikungunya can be undertaken at government hospitals for low rates. It is must to get complete blood count done, its a cheaper test and can be done at any reputed laboratory.
Give plenty of fluids to maintain hydration.
Give syrup ondem as per his weight 2 times a day to prevent vomiting.
If there is any onset of new symptoms, or any other deterioration, please take him to a pediatrician immediately.
Hope it helps.
