Posted on Sat, 16 Apr 2016
Question: I recently had blood work done. I am very low on vitaminD, my ANA was high and my platelets are low. I have a history of Crohn's disease , MS and fibromyalgia. I am having more labs done next week when I get my CT scan ( with contrast). My concern is that I might have MS. What are your thoughts ?

Brief Answer:
Consider MRI of brain and spine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for being here on HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

First, you fear that you have MS or you are diagnosed with MS?

Those blood tests results point toward autoimmune diseases, multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, so, other tests are needed to arrive at a correct diagnosis.

In my opinion, brain and cervical MRI is the best imaging tool to evaluate MS, CT scan is of no help about this condition.

In the other hand, CT scan with contrast may give valuable information about vascular lesions.

So, if your Doctor, regarding to your symptoms, doubts about MS, I think MRI should be considered too.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
