Food poisoning is a possibility.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. There are a few possibilities. The timecourse of your nausea and other symptoms seem to implicate the Idly. But it could be something entirely. For now let us assume that the Idly was to blame for your troubles. Since it was made outside the home, you may have no control on its ingredients, chutney and sambar may be contaminated as well.
Contaminated food is usually contaminated with
1) Ingredients or toxins that irritate the stomach lining.
2) Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi etc.
Since the symptoms you have outlined happened so quickly after eating, I'm more inclined to believe that the first option is the correct one. In such a situation, you WOULD NOT have a fever. If you develop a fever, then the second option is more likely.
A fever is a temperature above 100.4. So in other words. Treatment has to change based on this one test.
If Option 1 is true and there is no fever, then you must just rest your gut. Drink plenty of water and have easily digested foods like curd rice for the next meal or two till you feel better.
If option 2 and you do develop a fever (or loose motions), then you need to be put on an antibiotic. There are lots of different ones that will do a good job against a bacterial infection of the gut. But lets not worry about that unless and until you actual develop a fever.
I hope this plan of action seems appropriate. Let me know if I can be of any other assistance.
