Suggest Treatment For Vomiting, Diarrhea And Low Grade Fever
Question: My Daughter almost 2 years old had vomiting in morning. Didnt eat much in day and had 3-4 loose motions in gap of 3-4 hours. fever is around 99 . Not in a mood to wat anything but asking water herself periodically. Doc has prescribed following.
swp Crocin 7 ml 3 times
Emcet 5ml twice for 2 days
Neutrolin B 5ml twice for 5 days
zincris 5 ml once for 14 days
Want to know if treatment is in right direction.

This prescription includes Crocin for fever, Emset for vomiting, Neutrolin B which a probiotic rich of normal intestinal flora and zincris containing zinc which helps in early recovery from diarrhea. Most of the time diarrhea in this age group is due to viral infection.This prescription is right for management of viral diarrhea.
The main aim in management of diarrhea is to prevent dehydration by giving adequate amount of fluids. As she is vomiting Emset will take care of that and oral acceptance will improve.The dosage prescribed are also appropriate for her.
It is good that she is asking for water. Give her ORS instead of water as that will prevent any electrolyte imbalance. ORS of so many flavors(WHO ORS) are available in market. Try one which she likes.If she is not willing to accept ORS (some children find it not palatable), give plain water in between.Try to continue the feed which is easily digestible. Avoid milk, fruit juices, carbonated drinks as they may precipitate diarrhea.
Usually loose stool subsides in 4-6 days.Observe for her oral acceptance,urine output and activity(lethargic/irritable).If you find any abnormality consult your physician.

Thanks for the answer Sir. Will follow your advice. Problem is she is not in mood to eat anything. We tried to give her steamed rice tonight. For medicine also,she starts running away as soon as we try to give same. Everytime we need to give it forcefully. Do you think we need to take her to hospital or am I worrying too much?
