Lithium toxicity might cause such symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern but need more details of her symptoms to comment with confidence. She got admitted involuntarily at hospital and was given Risperidone, Clozapine which later changed to Lithium, Lorazepam and Olanzapine.
She is having vomiting, diarrhoea and muscle aches and have blurred vision. She is on high dose of Lithium (a mood stabiliser) and the drug is known to cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In some individuals diarrhoea and vomiting result in precipitation of Lithium toxicity. The ringing sensation in ear, blurred vision, muscle pains could be occurring due to electrolyte abnormalities precipitated by lithium toxicity. So first thing that should be done is to get her lithium levels checked to rule out the toxicity. Normal levels should be less than 1.2 mmol/ltr. Ask her doctor and if possible get her serum lithium levels, Serum Electrolytes and complete blood count done.
Please don't remain worried, if lithium levels come normal then reduction of doses will help to normalise her condition. For her persistent mood symptoms proper dose titration and other drugs will work.
Thanks, Please provide me details of her mood symptoms to comment on her drug therapy.
Thanks, Take care
