Suggest Treatment For Warts On Hand In An Elderly Person With Hypertension

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Feb 2016
Question: I am losing strength in my right hand. It started with maybe unrelated warts on my hand (two) and one on my fourth finger (counting from thumb). Then I lost feeling between the upper hand between fingers 4 and 5. I have pain on tip of little finger (5). Now I losing strength on thumb and next two fingers. I can't grip well any more, and I can't hold the fingers together and squeeze them together with fingers extended. They quiver when I try and hold them together. The only pain is in my little finger, and it comes and goes. Also, I have slight pain in my right wrist and my right shoulder and elbow. I'm left handed. I'm 78 years old. Otherwise in good health, except high bp under control and BPH.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of cervical spondylosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Weakness of hand grip and sensory complains along with shoulder pain points to possibility of cervical spondylosis and radiculopathy due to nerve root compression.
Is there any history of headache, vomiting, seizure, loss of consciousness, lower limb weakness, facial deviation or weakness?
Any weakness of other upper limb? Any neck pain trauma?
Possibility of cervical spondylosis can be evaluated by xray or Mri of cervical region.
For treatment physiotherapy for neck extension exercises and medication can be taken.
Neck collar may be used if bony unstablility is more in xray.
Pregabalin, amitryptiline or gabapentin may be used for pain relief.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back to me for further queries.
visit to a neurologist for detailed examination is advisable.
Possibility of carpal tunnel syndrome is less likely with involvement of all fingers and shoulder involvement.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

None of the above apply.

When I take Tylenol, things seem better. pain reduced, and I seem to have more strength. Hard to tell for sure.

I have doctor appointment with a new doctor for Monday. Will see what he says too. Thanks for your reply.
