Brief Answer:
You might be ankle laxity

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. Ankle instability without any other weakness in knee or hip is very rare. It can be due to nerve problem. This nerve compression can be at foot or in the spine. So I would suggest you to meet a neurologist and get your self examined. In diabetics there is chances of neuropathy due to vitamin B 12 deficiency also.
Neurologist may advise you to get some blood test and nerve tests like EMG. You should also need to take Tablet methylcobal one daily for nerve healing.
I hope this answer will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
