Suggest Treatment For Wheezing And Cough In A Child

Question: My 4 year old daughter just went to the urgent care for wheezing and cough. She also throws up once - twice a day. The urine test came back normal but keytones are 3+. The urgent care doctor indicated that it could be diabetes. Both parents have type 2 diabetes. I am terrified. What else could ot possibly be.
Brief Answer:
Could be stress induced
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Many times due to starvation or stress ketones can become positive.
But it could be diabetic ketoacidosis too.
A full battery of tests of blood and urine will be able to identify the exact cause.
It may take some time.
Keep your hopes positive, it may turn out to be starvation ketosis too.
Wishing your child good health.

I just did the test at home for ketones and came back at 40. Since its friday evening, do you feel that it is safe for my 4 year old to wait until Monday to see her primary? in case this is the diabetic ketoacidosis. How could I tell the difference between stress induced ketones and diabetic ketoacidosis?
Thank you,
XXXX
I also just checked my daughter's blood sugar with finger stick and it was 116 (before bed). Does that indicated anything?

Brief Answer:
No take her to hospital
Detailed Answer:
It is better not to delay.
Take her to nearby hospital.
Differentiating will require additional tests like blood gas analysis.
Single value of sugar may not indicate anything. Requires serial values
