Suggest Treatment For White Patches On The Leg
Question: My daughter is having white patch on her leg.I have been so worried that it is vitiligo.the doctor told me that it is some kind of hypopigmentation that is hypomelanosis of ito.At what age skin biopsy can be taken?
Brief Answer:
Photograph required
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Hypomelanosis of ito generally affects shoulder region.
Biopsy is not required as biopsy might not be helpful in differentiating vitiligo and Nevus of ito.
If possible upload a pic of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Just relax even if it is vitiligo, various modalities like tacrolimus, topical steroids etc are available to treat it.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.

I dont know how to upload the photo.right now my daughter using tacrolimus - tacrovera 0.3.is this the vitiligo treatment.im also having vitiligo.
Brief Answer:
Use tacrolimus
Detailed Answer:
Hello
If you have vitiligo then diagnosis is almost certain that she too has developed vitiligo.
It is genetically related.
Tacrolimus can be used for vitiligo along with a mild steroid.
Use tacrolimus in night and a mild steroid cream like fluticasone in morning.
Give her almonds and grapes daily.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

I would like to see a photograph of the involved area.
This can help me in differentiating both.
