Question: I have a white spot under my kneecap that is about the size of a half dollar. It is not rough at all. In fact, it is very smooth and feels like new skin. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Possible tinea

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.

You noticed an area just under the knee that is smooth and feels like new skin. It is possible that this may be an area of a fungal infection. This is known as tinea corporis or ring worm. This is very common and only requires a topical antifungal cream like tinactin or lamisil.

This would not be a cancerous lesions because cancer of the skin is normal not found on the lower extremities. The usual places for skin cancer is the upper arms and face.

If you have any further questions about this area please submit a photograph so I can be more thorough with my description and possible causes of your condition.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
