Question: Good day Dr.

Thanks for your enquiry about the wisdom tooth pain which I had few weeks back.
I consulted the dentist, took painkiller for 2 days. Now there is no pain. Dentist has advised to have the infected wisdom tooth extracted with the help of a Dental Surgeon.
I will meet the dentist on 21.3.2015 for the follow-up. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Good day Dr.

Thanks for your reply.

1. I want to know whether I have to go to a dental surgeon for the wisdom tooth extraction and follow-up. As the dentist told that he has to arrange a dental surgeon for the tooth removal.

2. Also kindly advise that how long I need to be off work to recover after the tooth extraction ?

3. As my wisdom tooth is half broken already, will the dental surgeon find it difficult to extract the infected tooth completely ?

4. What is the diet after tooth extraction and for how long ? I understand that nothing to be taken hot or cold.

5. Can solid soft food can be taken after the tooth surgical removal ?

Hope I am not bothering with too many advises.
Thanks for your guidance. Await your valuable advise w.r.t. the above queries. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Nothing to be worried so much

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX .

Welcome again

Read your questions that you have asked see firstly I will suggest you nothing to be worried so much. Wisdom tooth extraction is normal extraction there is no major surgery is to be done .

Answers of questions you have asked are explained below:

1- For extraction of wisdom tooth you have to consult oral surgeon (specialist ) that will be good for you and after extraction go for follow appointment given by your surgeon.

2- you have to take rest of atleast one week for complete healing of socket .

3- As your wisdom tooth is partialy broken No there is no difficulty in removal . wisdom tooth forceps and elevators are used for extraction.

4- Diet you have to take is soft diet like Pulses , Rice , soft leafy vegetable till socket is healed for one week . Dont take hot coffee and tea . You can take ice cream also . Eat food when it cools down .

5- solid soft food can be taken but you can take it after 4 to 5 day of extraction and avoid chewing food from extraction side . You should chew food from non extraction side .

Hope my answers cleared your doubts . If you have further query I will be happy to help.
