Suggest Treatment For Withdrawal Symptoms Of Cerelle
Question: I recently started cerelle just over 17 days ago, due to headaches and a few other side effects which are a bit unsettling I've decided this contraception is not for me, so I' stopped taking my pill 4 days ago.. today I've noticed some light bleeding? is this normal?, I'm still getting some headaches too
Brief Answer:
Information.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
As you may know, Cerelle is a progestin-only contraceptive pill (no estrogen).
It is common for women to have some withdrawal bleeding when stopping birth control pills.
I would have expected that your headaches would have eased up though after discontinuing it, if the Cerelle was the cause of your headaches.
If the headaches are severe, I advise that you go in to an A and E now. If they are mild, consider giving it another day, but if the headaches continue, do go in to see your doctor. I recommend making an appointment with your doctor now and you can cancel it if the headaches go away.

no it has worn off slightly to be honest..was just worried about this bleeding, will I have a normal period this month or will it take some time for things to return to normal?
Brief Answer:
Thoughts on this.
Detailed Answer:
Some women return to normal within a month, and you may too, but given that you stopped mid cycle, it may take 2-3 months.
You may have some irregular light bleeding until your normal cycle resumes (which will happen once you start ovulating again) and this is ok.
If your periods haven't returned to normal after months then do check in with your doctor.

many thanks for the information yoh have provided.. I'm currently waiting for an ultrasound scan on my right breast as recently found a smallish lump, GP couldn't feel what I was feeling and said its not a concern ti her but for peace of mind have a scan. possible fibrodenoma. Been experiencing some minor aching around that area feels like a straining pain, best way to describe it. I'm wondering if it is all connected to cerelle?

First a clarification:
I wrote
"If your periods haven't returned to normal after months then do check in with your doctor."
And I meant to write "after 3 months". Three months is when we start to look into why a period hasn't happened.
Regarding the association of fibroadenomas and progestins, we know that there is an association between developing fibroadenomas and ovarian hormones (estrogen and progesterone), but whether this progestin only pill may have caused the lump, I can't say for sure, as I can't find literature that says definitively one way or the other.
