Suggest Treatment For Withdrawal Symptoms Of Trika
Question: Hello, I am writing on behalf of my mother. She has been taking Trika 0.25 mg (sometimes also 0.5mg, two times a day) for many years now, but she recently consulted another doctor when she wasn't feeling too well mentally and was getting depression attacks. The doctor suggested her to dis-continue Trika and take Revozip instead. It has been 5 days since she started taking Revozip and her condition has worsened vis-a-vis depression/anxiety attacks, mind and body imbalance, irritability, drowsiness and general exhaustion. Could it be because of the sudden discontinuing of Trika. Please do let me know
Brief Answer:
Yes it is withdrawal effect
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
Use of trika for long duration causes dependence. It is very likely that your mother is now dependent on trika and her current symptoms are due to sudden withdrawal of trika following consultation.
This is because after the dependency person needs to withdraw medication slowly and sudden withdrawal causes these problems.
I hope this answers you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks again.

Thank you for your answer doctor. She has been having revozit for the last 5 days and she has had 1 revozit in the morning. But the problems are still there. So, can we give her Trika today instead of revozit because it is anyway not working for her.
Will it be alright to give her one Trika today? Or should we wait till tomorrow to resume the course?
Also, do you think it would be wise for her to faze Trika out over time? She is 56 years old and has been on Trika for the past 7-8 years now.

Brief Answer:
I do not think trika should be continued
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thanks for reverting back to me.
Use of rika after 50 years of age is never safe and associated with severe side effects such as falls, cogntive impairment, rebound anxiety among others.
Since it is already five days to removal of trika it is better to tolerate for few more days to control these symptoms. It is possible that she will be alright in next couple of days.
I hope this helps you further.
If you have more questions I will be glad to assist you further.
