Suggest Treatment For Yeast Infection On Skin

Question: I am on a special low-sugar diet with probiotics to try to bring a yeast overgrowth in my body under control. I have had yeast rashes on my skin for years and inability to lose weight. Since being on the diet, my rashes have been worse, and I've been very fatigued with headache. Do you have any suggestions?
Brief Answer:
Yeast rashes on skin.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.
I have gone through your query.A low sugar diet is not needed if you are not diabetic. It is dangerous for your brain to get hypoglycemia. You should also rule out a HIV infection by blood test.
If you were my patient i will advise fluconazole tablets weekly once for 4 to 6 weeks, terbinafine ointment for local application and ketoconazole soap or powder for using over body.
Swab should be taken to confirm it.Usually it is taken and mixed with potassium hydroxide and examined under microscope for specific branching pattern to confirm yeast infection.
Hope this may help you.Let me know if anything unclear.I am happy to help you.
Thanks

What has caused you to ask about HIV infection? In other words, what of my symptoms make you think of that? Thanks.

Hi
Thank you for your follow up query.
Long standing systemic fungal infections are rare. But it is common in people with HIV which is associated with a low immunity state. That is why I asked you to rule out that.

Thank you. I did as you suggested and had an HIV test done, which came back negative. Are there other causes of an ongoing state of low immunity?
Brief Answer:
Other causes of low immunity.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your follow up.
Other causes of low immunity can be diabetes tuberculosis or while taking immunosuppressive drugs.
If such problems are nil,you should continue a proper anti fungal therapy like i mentioned before. In case of highly resistant fungal infection amphotericin B can be considered.
Hope this may help you.Let me know if you have further queries.

I'm confused about your reference to "diabetes tuberculosis". When I Googled this term, diabetes shows up as one disease and tb another. And I am quite sure I don't have diabetes. I also do not have any symptoms of tb and can't relate in my mind either what this has to do with a suppressed immune system (other than realizing that any illness will cause the immune system to work overtime). I would appreciate you passing this on to a specialist if you think they would answer me better. Thanks!
Brief Answer:
Diabetes and Tuberculosis as separate causes.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your follow up.
In Case of having Diabetes or tuberculosis you can have a low immunity. It is not must to have a low immunity to get fungal infection. But that is seen only rare.If you dont have such problems dont get confused by thinking about it.Get proper anti fungal therapy as i mentioned before. You can continue your probiotics also. Then you will be fine.
Hope this may help you.

What would cause the long-term fungal infection if I do not have a suppressed immune system?
Brief Answer:
Cause of long term fungal infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your follow up.
Your long term fungal infection in such case can be due to in appropriate therapy or the fungal infection which are resistant to the drugs you used.
So if you get a proper therapy then you can get rid off it.Like i mentioned before you can treat with more than 1 drug like fluconazole orally, terbinafine ointment for local application and ketoconazole soap or powder for whole body.Continuous 4 to 6 weeks therapy is usually needed. In case of even resistant to this therapy you can consider using amphotericin B.
Hope this may help you.
Thanks
