Suggest Treatment For Yeast Infection
Question: I have high AST (52) and ALT (70). Should I be worried? I have bad yeast infections on top of both feet that won't go away. I quit cycling because the doctor told me the sweat in my shoes was causing the yeast infections. I quit all sugar intake (fruits, etc.). The yeast on top of the feet doesn't go away even though I wear only sandals now. 2nd time yeast infection occurred on feet. Had this infection for 3 months now. Patches of flakey itchy skin all over the top of my feet. Bright red when itch skin off. None on toes, just on top of feet. Area where a compression stocking rubs right leg (above ankle also). Could the yeast infections on feet be related to liver problems? Also, I think I was eating way too much chicken every day so I cut down on that. Went to gym and weight lifted 2 days prior to testing and I read that torn muscles could distort the tests........ Any ideas on how to get rid of the feet yeast infections? I've tried just about everything, maybe I have bad liver causing the problem?

I have gone through your medical history and I can say that your AST and ALT are slightly elevated and not worrisome.
The problems you are having with feet yeast infection is not related to liver problems, but probably to:
- diabetes : get the diabetes testing done
- bad blood circulation in the periphery (in the legs)
- wearing tight shoes all day long.
Nystatin is rarely causing increased transaminases as it is absorbed well in your intestines and little is going in the bloodstream.
To cure your feet yeast infection, I advise to:
- keep a good feet hygiene
- wash with warm water and a teaspoon of soda
- dry it well
- apply anti-fungal spray or lotion (we commonly prescribe gentian violet solution)
- after it is dried, you can use antifungal cream (containing miconazole and hydrocortisone)
