Suggest Treatment For Yeast Infection

default
Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: I had a male yeast infection about 2 months ago. I treated it with Monistat and hydrocortisone cream. I know it was a yeast infection. I did plenty of research to verify this. I also used zeasorb powder and an antihistamine pill for over 2 weeks along with the Monistat and hydrocortisone cream. This all started with a dry spot on my penis. then it turned into the full blown yeast infection. After the treatment the symptoms cleared and all was well. but now the itchy dry spot is back. along with little very small red bumps on the front head of my penis. Could you please help I should also add that I have no sexual transmitted diseases I know this as a fact.

Brief Answer:
Kindly provide pictures

Detailed Answer:
Hi

From the description you have provided,it looks like you have developed a recurrence of the fungal infection .
I would like to have a look at the exact skin condition for confirmation.
Please click some close up pictures of the affected area and upload them here on this page.
Also I would like to tell you that cortisone cream does not have any role in the treatment of fungal infection and should ideally be avoided in patients with such infections since it might cause recurrence.
I am sure I will be able to help you better once you provide me the pictures .

You can't really notice any dryness because I recently applied the cortisone cream and monistat cream. Dermatitis ?? maybe?

Brief Answer:
Need to use only antifungal agents

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I have seen the attached pictures .
You seem to have developed a recurrence of the fungal infection .
I would suggest that you should apply a topical antifungal cream alone over the affected area twice daily .
Since you had earlier used monistat, you can use clotrimazole cream now .
Use it twice daily for atleast ten days .
Avoid using cortisone since steroids can cause recurring fungal infections .
Wash the affected area with lukewarm saline water twice daily before applying the medicine.
You might need a course of oral antifungals if the lesion still tends to persist or increase .

Hope it helps
