Question: I m 28 yr old female. naturally I have curly hair of shoulder length ( short) . I have allergy to fog/ mist which generally doesn't allow me hair wash more than twice a week. I have not suffered any serious dandruff problems till recently. by mid of XXXXXXX I moved into a new flat which is still under construction. there is lot of dust, dirt, cement, paint etc in the surroundings and corridors. also the water here is rich in some salts. its visible as white patches on the bottom of the bucket and floor of the restroom. since its summer now, I m having hair wash 4 days a week. but its becoming difficult to comb my hair after hair wash. the hair is more rough , tangled, stuck together and dry than ever before. the teeth of the comb is stuck and unable to brush through the hair. I use a comb with wide teeth. also I have noticed between teeth of mi comb there are black substances stuck so frequently and thick that I have to clean my comb every 10 days compulsorily. I presume this dandruff. wat should I do to regain my hair s normal texture? how can I remove dandruff effectively? I used to shampoo once in 3 weeks only since I m a house wife. will nizoral shampoo help in this? wat shampoo / conditioner should I use ?

Brief Answer: Yes Shampoo & Conditioner will help twice/week Detailed Answer: Hi there XXXX. I hear your issues & empathise with you. Being a housewife does not mean you shampoo once in 3 weeks. There are various reasons for a dandruff & stress is a major concern aggravating the problem. Yes Nizoral shampoo may help your dandruff problem but a lot of patients claim it dries the hair. I would prefer you use a milder shampoo like Danclear plus for instance. Apply it on the 'wet' scalp & leave it on for 15-20 minutes twice/week. This should set you right in 2 weeks or so. Follow it up with a 'Dove' conditioner for best results & between these two, it should sort your issues. However, for best results & further interventions & advice, for hair issues it is always better to be seen in person, hair density etc asessed by the trichologist & appropriate tilor-made treatment given as no two people benefit from a particular treatment the same way. If in Bangalore, most welcome to XXXXXXX Hospital. If elsewhere in India, please do check this HCM web-site for a dermatologist closest to you. Good Luck & wish you a good head of lustrous hair soon.
