Suggest Treatment To Keep TSH Level Under Control
treatment has been backed by homeopathic treatment which according to the homeopathic doctor will prevent any increases in thyronorm
dosages.Since last 4/5 months my tsh levels have increased again and the latest test shows T3:42, T4:8.5 and TSH as 8.90. as you can see the
T3 levels are very low even though T4 looks normal. Do i need to increase the dosage of thyronorm now from 50 mg to lets say 75 mg and keep
the homeopathic treatment as it is? I also observed that my body tempertaures remain low at 97.6 and my blood pressure also remains low . My
menstruation cycles are irregular and sometimes very painful.
You need to increase the dose.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma'm, Hi! First I would like to tell you that you have been asking the same query from two specialists. All have replied the same thing and you have rated them all very good and you seemed satisfied. Still you have asked me the same question. So I am the third one.
I will answer you , but my answer will remain the same , very much in agreement with Dr XXXXXXX or Dr Topiwala.
As your TSH is rising that means you need to increase the dose, it is just not sufficient for you. Whether homeopathy has a role, or whether you should continue it or discontinue I do not know as I am not a homeopathy expert. But as far as thyroxine is concerned you must make it 75 mcg. What is your weight? dose will vary with weight as well. Recheck your thyroid balance after 6 weeks and let me know so we can tell you what next needs to be done. Low body temperature and irregular periods are suggestive of low working thyroid or insufficient dose supplementation. So you are symptomatic as well, that too favours increasing the dose. Thyroxine has some bone loss effect, so do supplement yourself with calcium, vitamin D and Vitamin B12.
Regards!
