Question: Ct scan showed renal stone in right kidney 10 mm by 8 mm about 5 weeks ago I haven't had any crazy pain or.aching just the odd night where I think a few twinges they said lithotripsy prob best or there is the ureterscopy method problem I can't lie flat as I have curvature of spine I was hoping to take my home made pillow in to use as it was ok on the X-ray tables and other tests and he said they would discuss it just wanting advice and how likely stone will stay there if I put it off thanks XXXX
Brief Answer:
ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave lithotripsy)
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Treatment plan depends on the location of stone if it is of this size. ESWL which is Extracorporeal Shock Wave lithotripsy might be best option for you. It can be done as an outpatient procedure. This breaks the stone into small pieces which are lost eventually.
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
ESWL is good
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
yes, you go it right. newer machines allow you to lie on your back. I here the stone fragments do not take more than few hours to rush out.
The other procedure involves passage of a endoscope (a small catheter with camera and tools at the end) through the urethra.
Thanks!
