Suggest Treatment To Remve Lump Under The Skin On Waistline

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Jul 2014
Question: I have a lump under my skin on my waistline that I noticed a few months ago. For quite awhile it was the size of a pea. About a week ago I noticed the lump has grown and became red and painful. I attempted to push on the lump and fluid (blood and pus) came out, quite a bit. This lasted for a couple of days, so I attempted to enlarge the hole with a surgical needle to relieve more fluid. It works and the swelling has gone down along with the pain. My question is this; will this go away on its own or should I see a doctor and could the infection spread throughout my body? How concerned should I be?

Brief Answer:
it could be sebaceous cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

It seems to me that you have got a sebaceous cyst.

And though you have drained it, it will keep on coming back till it is completely excised with all its wall.

Also chances of infection is high in incomplete excision.

So i would suggest that you show it to a surgeon for its complete excision. Its a minor procedure done under local anaesthesia on opd basis.

Hope i have been helpful.
