Suggest Treatment When Diagnosed With Diffuse Prostatomegaly
Question: I am XXXX, 73, from XXXXXXX I have been diagnised for Diffuse Prostatomegally. 42cc in volume. How serious is the problem?I am a diabetic, under control.

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been diagnosed to have Benign Enlargement of prostate with volume of prostate being reported on Ultrasound Scanning to be 42 cc
This is common problem that many people face after the age of 60 years which causes obstructive voiding symptoms like frequency for urination ,nocturia ,poor stream etc .
Symptoms can be controlled with medication like Tomsulosin once daily .However surgery to resect the prostate (TURP)may be warranted if the symptoms are severe and embarrass quality of life .
