Brief Answer:
There is no need to worry .

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX
I can understand your concern
I would like to inform you that for TSH level above 5.5 and less than 10 in patients who have few or no symptoms of hypothyroidism , we call this as subclinical hypothyroidism .
Treatment for subclinical hypothyroidism depends upon few factors such as.
1.if you have symptoms of hypothyroidism such as fatigue, poor appetite but weight gain, hair loss, dry skin , cold intolerance , change in voice any menstrual abnormalities etc.that can not be explained by any other clinical conditions .
2.if you are tested positive for anti TPO antibodies ,considering that you will develop XXXXXXX symptoms of hypothyroidism in coming months
As such there is no need to worry . Before starting any treatment for hypothyroidism it is important to confirm that TSH elevation is persisting for more than 3 months.
Finally I would like to advise you that your doctor is right , follow his advice and discuss about need for antiTPO Antibody testing .If it is tested then well and good other wise get your TSH checked after 3 months and if found elevated you can take low dose of levothyroxine after discussing with your physician .
Hope this will help you . If you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM .
