Suggest Ways To Avoid Pregnancy After Unprotected Intercourse

Question: My wife gets abortion 10 days ago and yesterday night by mistake we had unprotected and i am not sure i cum inside her or not. I know its the foolish mistake and i am really regret for this. But can you please help me is there any .1 % chance of pregnancy or do she need to take any pills like unwated 72 or ipill as we are not ready till for family planning. I know its foolish this we did yesterday; an i will 100 % try next time we will not do the unprotected sex. Please help me as we are really very tensed.

1.First of all do not panic.

2.As such chances of resuming ovualtion within 10 days of abortion are quite less. But as you have mentioned about unprotected sex act, it will be safer to go ahead with emergency contraceptive pills.
It can be used within 24 to 72 hours of unprotected sex. It works in almost 95% cases when taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex act.
It will be safe and will not be harmful for your wife.

3. If you want you can start using barrier method like condom .

Thanks for your kind reply doc. as per your suggestion we will use emergency contraceptive pills. Can we use unwanted 72 and is it safer in future prescriptive way like there will be any complication for my wife health or future pregnancy ?

Also is it fine to use unwanted 72 after 10 days of abortion ? i mean is it safe that we are using emergency contraceptive pills just after the abortion ?

And how many pills we need to take and in which way; can you please guide ?

Now use e. c. pills. Don,t use regularly. Use condom/ birth control pills

Hi there,
Thanks for appreciating the answer and reverting back.

You can safely use emergency contraceptive pill at this moment.

I will suggest you,not to use it in every cycle, as it has high dose of hormone progesterone.
You can use it only as emergency measure and using it as a routine is not recommended.
In my opinion, regular and proper use of condom by you or your wife using birth control pills is recommended.

Secondly, about taking the pills.
If your pack has one step dose , she needs to take it only one at atime.
if it has got 2 pills then, she has need to take the pills with 12 hours interval.
