Brief Answer:
The risk of stroke and seizure reduces after taking medicines.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXXXXX

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and concern.

1. Seizures can occur after stroke in some patients, as the brain tissue gets damaged and forms a scar. Scar tissue in brain causes abnormal electrical discharges leading to seizures.

2. Antiplatelets (blood thinners) and cholesterol lowering medicines would reduce the risk of stroke. Similarly, anti-epileptic medicines would reduce the risk of seizures. It should be noted that the risk of stroke and seizure recurrence "reduces" and does not become "nil". This is because none of the medicines discovered so far have 100% efficacy. At the best, they work in 80-85% patients only. However, if there is recurrence, additional medicines may be added or the dose of current medicines may be increased.

3. You can lead a normal life and travel, as most doctors have a basic knowledge to treat stroke and seizures. Seizures would stop on its own in most cases (within 5 minutes) and you can see the doctor the next day.

Brief Answer:
Medicines are safe and are needed long-term.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with more details.

You are on good medicines, which are safe. They are required for long term. Deplatt CV is to prevent stroke and is needed life long. Eptoin, frisium and levilex are needed to prevent seizures and are needed for at least three years.
