Brief Answer:
Magnesium supplementation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for being on HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Generally treatment of gabapentin withdrawal symptoms depends on which symptoms you are experiencing, for example if you experience anxiety or depression, short term antidepressant drugs may be necessary.

Stopping gabapentin suddenly may increase the risk of seizures too, so, if it is possible, better tapper it.

However, magnesium supplementation is the main treatment to ease gabapentin withdrawal symptoms.

Natural adjustments to help in such cases are eating healthy foods, exercise regularly, staying well hydrated, avoiding alcohol, etc.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Hi there doctor. I am very low on my gabapentin. I will be 100% off in two days. I was ovdr taking my prescription. (I know, stupid...)

I will take the magnesium that you suggested.

Alternatives to Gabapentin which occurs naturally? Perhaps something which mimics it? I have to work and support a family still.

If I sent my records to you would it help you more?

I'm 3 years 3 months clean of alcohol and opiates...

Brief Answer:
Alpha lipoic acid may help in neuralgic pain.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back ad thanks for being on follow up.

First let me congratulate you of being off alcohol and opiates.

Alpha lipoic acid (a natural compound ) is found to be an alternative to gabapentin in treating neuropathic pain.

Another possibility as antineuralgic drug is amitriptilyne (an antidepressant ).

It is necessary to discuss with your Doctor about use of these medications and prescription.

Your medical records for sure could help me understanding better your condition.

Hope this helps.
