Question: My boyfriend has a terrible tooth infection and his mother gave him some antibiotics.
Its mylan 3422 on the pill. He took 5 pills with a 24 hour period and is not feeling very well. Is there something we can do at home? Will it runs its course? Should he drink fluids?

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain Mylan 3422 is Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that is not commonly used for dental infection and is used for urinary tract infection..

As he has tooth infection it needs proper treatment and will not get better on its own without treatment..

He should first of all take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen or Naproxen while if pain is severe he can take Ketorolac or Tramadol..
This will provide temporary relief from pain..

You should also take him to a Dentist and get an x ray of tooth done..
He can be given a course of antibiotics like Augmentin along with painkillers..

Also the tooth needs to be treated like of tooth can be saved then Root Canal Treatment can help..
In case of gross decay extraction has to be done..

Please tell that does he has swelling on the face also along with pain?
You told that he is not feeling well, so please explain clearly what exactly he is feeling?

Please revert back with answers..

Regards..
