Brief Answer:
Wait for some days and let things normalise

Detailed Answer:
Hi thanks for the query

I can understand your problem. First of all what happened has already happened and there is no need to keep that thing in mind completely. This is acceptable to feel bad and have guilty but try not to keep this thing in mind permanently. You have told him the truth and if he is not believing you then this is also acceptable considering his point. Just tell him that what you've told him is truth and nothing more is there to tell.

If even then he doesn't believe then no need to explain more. Remain calm and normal, in some days he will be alright. No need to worry. It will take some time but will be alright. By telling him truth you've done a good thing, this will help in building the trust again.

Thanks, Take care
