Suggest Ways To Pre-pone Menstruation

Question: my periods are due on 1st september 2015. i want to prepone it to 26th august using registrone 5mg tablets. when should i start having it? for how many days?

Thanks for the query to hcm,

The fact that you next due menses are on 1st september, then I assume your LMP was on 1st august. If you intend to prepone your menses then you may start registrone 5mg twice a day under guidance of your local doctor from 15th august till 22 august daily and then wait for your menses in next 5 days.
The only disadvantage of preponing menses is that your menses may continue longer in form of spotting. If that is fine with you then you may opt for it.

It is suggested that if you wish to delay your menses then it would be better as regulation of future menses would then be easier.

Thank you Dr. I just wanted to know is it sure to get my periods within 5 days of stopping this tablet ?? Any other better ways to prepone ? Yes I had my last month periods on 1st August.

Hello,

Unfortunately there is no surety that menses shall return definitely in next 5 days of stopping the pill. But the withdrawal menses is generally seen to occur within 7 days of stoppage of pill intake.
Preponing menses is hence usually not effective as compared to delaying menses with regesterone where the pill has to be started twice a day from day 22 till as long as the menses are not desired and when menses are desired, simply the drug is discontinued and withdrawal bleeding resumes within 7 days.

Actually i wanted to prepone the periods as my husband is coming from canada and he will be there from 1st sept to 12 sept. i have to take the oral contraceptives during his stay and i can start that on 2nd day of periods.can only registrone prevent pregnancy? as that is the safe period, only registrone would be enough? please suggest me Dr.

Hello,
If your concern is contraception then regestrone cannot serve as contraception at all. In that case you should prepone your menses and rightly start on a contraceptive pill from day 2 of your next cycle.
So you can plan to prepone your menses and take regesterone from 15th august 5mg twice a day till 22 nd august and then even if you get your menses by 27/29 still you may start your contraceptive pills from 28/30august ( which would serve the purpose for contraception as it would your safe period till 10th september anyways and regular oc pill pill intake for 7-8 days initially shall prevent ovulation and conception hence).
So that should be your plan now.
