Question: My cholesterol is 235. I was told to take Zocar (spl) but can I get this down with diet and exercise and is level dangerous?

Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
 Although your total cholesterol is not that high as required level is below 200.
However if your LDL cholesterol levels are high or if there is associated diabetes or hypertension,then it better to be put on anti cholesterol medicine.
Uncontrolled hypothyroidism can also lead to high levels of cholesterol and so get your thyroid function test also done.
In case LDL is marginally high and there is no associated diabetes or high blood pressure,then you can control your cholesterol levels by strict diet intake and regular exercises.
You can give a goal of 8 weeks for this and then repeat your cholesterol levels to see whether lifestyle changes have worked or not.
