Brief Answer:
Yes prevention is better than cure

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HealthcareMagic.

Mostly children have higher levels of immunity than adults. The reason they are not as exposed to medicines and other other factors as adults.

Yes, medicines particularly antibiotics reduce a person's immunity by changing normal flora. A person is inherently born with a good immunity and intelligence. It keeps decreasing in life as he is exposed to factors like medicines, other chemicals, infections, etc. Some infections and vaccines may provide immunity for life against that particular infection. In general they provide platform for more infections. So best way to prevent infections is to eat hygienic food and cleaner drinking water. The drinking water should either be from an RO system or be boiled for atleast 1 hour while it is covered properly. In my opinion cleaner food and water helps most against infections including respiratory infections. Other precautions also help like covering mouth while sneezing, washing hands frequently when having cold, etc.

If I say that take some medicine to increase your baby's immunity, then I will be misleading you. Medicines, vitamins and anti-oxidants are to be taken only if a person has developed some health condition.

Hope it helps.
