Question: Hi my risk exposure was on the 4th dec 2014 with a call girl. It was protected though. But I want to rule out any infection at the earliest possible to rest my mind. Which is the hiv test I should take up and when do i take this test to rule out.
Also which is the best labs in XXXXXXX to do this. Cost not a constraint.

What is the exact full name of the Test that I should tell at the labarotory. Is this the HIV Proviral DNA PCR test as I could see somewhere in the websites . Can you please confirm.
Also, I read somewhere about the Antigen test (p24 Ag). Can this be done as well along with HIV PCR for early detection and what is the window period for the other test like Antigent p24 test?

There are many people who are stressed with the same situation you are facing. If you have done protected exposure, nothing much to worry. But to allay the fear and stress testing can be done.
After unprotected intercourse only 0.1 to 0.3 % gets HIV. In Vaginal intercourse it is 0.01%. As you performed protected it goes to nil chance
Yes its name is HIV pro viral DNA PCR test. Some people is testing HIV RNA PCR also. But first one is more acceptable.
P24 antigen test is also available in the market; but it is more acceptable after one month period or you can say detected when the multiplication of viruses sets in the body.

Well I had contacted SRL labs this morning here in XXXXXXX and they told me to cross check with the doctor if this is the exact test (test name below) to be done as the name is slightly different from the name (HIV pro viral DNA PCR test) which you had provided me, so I thought I better double check with you before I provide the sample.
This is the test name that the SRL lab provided:
HIV-1 DNA Detector Qualitative PCR method
They told me that the above test would cost about rs 3100 and the sample would be sent to bombay for testing.

At this time, I am not having any kind of worrying symptoms though.
