Suggest Ways To Wean Off Thyronorm

Question: Can I stop 50mcg daily dose of thyronorm for 4-6 weeks - my tsh is 1.2%
Brief Answer:
Reduce after follow up
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If your current TSH value is 1.2mg/dl while you are on 50mcg you can temporarily reduce the dose to 12.5 (lowest dose) and review the value after one more month with your doctor.
There is nothing like complete stopping of medicine and it is not recommended at all. It needs multiple investigation and multiple times. It is demand and supply, if the body needs thyroxine more than it is being produced then you have to supplement from outside.
So I suggest you to seek an expert like Endocrinologist who can do a better job than doing it yourself.

I want to stop for 4-6 weeks so that I could shift to Ayurvedic treatment and see its results. Is there a major risk if I discontinue Thyronorm for 6 weeks?
Brief Answer:
Risk may be less, advise not to discontinue
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am not sure how Ayurvedic treatment works but would advise not to discontinue Thyronorm.
It is up to you but the risk could not determined now as every patient is different to respond if they stop the medicine.
