Suggets Treatment For Pharyngitis

Should I worried about the lumps? I haven't been to the doctor yet.
nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You have pharyngitis - infection of the throat.
Lymphoid aggregates are present in your throat. During infection they become swollen and can be seen as lumps at the back of your throat.
If your symptoms have been present for more than a week then you will do well with a course of antibiotics preferably of the penicillin group.
You have to see a doctor for a prescription.
You can take a pain killer like tylenol for the sore throt after checking your dose.
Please follow some general measures like-
1) Do warm salt water gargling 4 times daily.
2) Drink lots of warm fluids upto 4 litres per day.
3) Avoid using the air conditioner.
4) Do not eat or drink anything cold.

not the right antibiotic
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The best antibiotic is amoxicillin for upper respiratory tract infection. Septrim is not first line antibiotic for throat infections.
Antibiotics should be taken as a course which should be for a minimum of 5 days, taking just 2 tablets can produce problems of incomplete control of infection and emergence of resistance.
Since the soreness is troubling you, it would not be a bad option to discuss about penicillin antibiotics with your treating doctor.
Regards,
Dr Rajkishori Godhi.
