Swollen Crusty Eyelids In The Morning. Pink Eye?
Thank you for posting your query.
Your symptoms are pointing towards pink eye or Conjunctivitis.
However, there are many causes of Conjunctivitis.
It could be viral, fungal, bacterial, allergic or chemical induced. Most common is the Viral Conjunctivitis which is very self-limiting illness but highly infectious.
The symptoms of pink eye or Conjuncitivitis are,
1. Red and itchy eye
2. Sticky discharge from the eyes
3. Pain or burning in the eye
4. Swelling of the eyelids
5. Fever at times
I would advise you the following:
1. Repeatedly clean your eyes by wiping it with wet cotton balls.
2. Do not rub your eyes.
3. Do not share hand towels, napkins etc with other members of the family.
4. Do not touch affected eye and then touch the other eye with the same unclean hands.
5. Repeatedly wash your hands.
6. Wipe and clean surfaces which you touch most often to reduce spread to others.
7. You might require anti-biotic eye drops to reduce bacterial infection.
8. Anti-pyretic medication will help keep fever and pain at bay.
Do visit your Ophthalmologist for examination and prescription of medicines.
