Brief Answer:
A nerve root compression likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The loss of muscle mass with weakness is suggestive of a nerve related cause. This can be due to a nerve root compression due to a disc related problem. The MRI scan of the spine should help in proper diagnosis.
Medicines like Pregabalin and Methylcobalamin supplements with a regular physiotherapy can help in controlling the symptoms till then.
I hope this answers your query.
